The day was about to come... The first time I will be separated and be miles away from my parents. The time will come very soon and I will have no choice but to face it. It will be time for me to stand on my own feet. No more, "pa, can u please escort me through the school gates?", or "ma, can you make me that delicious chicken curry of yours?". Not even, "pa, could you please drive me down to the town?". It felt awful to think of the gap that is about to separate me from them .. Things are about to change.
The day arrived, the first day I set foot in KBU International College, an average sized college with 'hot babes' walking around. It actually was not as bad as I thought it would be. I got myself registered and struggled my way out of a crowded hall with faces just as lost as I was. I knew I had to get used to this environment and atmosphere. I braced up myself and lifted my heavy legs off the ground. I explored the place, where I'll be spending the next couple of months in. I walked pass unfamiliar faces, especially those foreign students, staring at me. Probably it was because I just didnt look like one of those 'KL girls'. Well, I admit I dont look like one of 'them', sophisticated, I mean. But, at least I knew I had all the good values that have been instilled in me by my parents and nothing else can be compared to it, I think. Seriously, no harm meant to anyone. I would never want to loose these values no matter what happens. Anyway, there were some friendlier and kinder ones who greeted me with a smile and offered to show me around. This told me that looks can be deceiving, it was not that bad after all. I knew I had to adapt myself to this new environment, and I will. If I dont, what more in Germany, a strange country with unknown people, culture and a language so different from my country Malaysia. I'll be furthering my studies in Germany 18 months' time. In order to do so, I'll have to perform up to the expectation of my dearest sponser, the Public Service Department.
Back to the unforgettable experience. Time flew by. Seven whole months flew like days, and all by myself in a city that had been strange to me. What a relief, I am now settled down quite comfortably and have a lot of great friends. As a matter of fact, apart from the tonnes of homework we are loaded with, I have been enjoying myself very much and I know I will be in the upcoming months.
